Erased: Manga series Review

After binge-reading Deathnote, I was on the lookout for some series which was equally dark and suspenseful. I tried several manga series but didn’t feel like continuing any of those. I visited Kinokuniya bookstore and asked the staff to recommend me some series which was like Deathnote and they recommended Erased to me. They were absolutely right when they said it was like Deathnote.

April 2018 reading wrap up

April was an okay reading month but I mostly read comics. I was under stress (related to job) about which a separate update post will come soon. Because of the stress, I could not read much. Also that resulted in my absence from this blog as well (hence the super late wrap up post). But I still wanted to have my wrap up posted here since doing these wrap ups have resulted in me reading more books. I feel accountable for my reading somehow and that makes me finish books faster. I read a total of 8 books, out of which 5 were comics/graphic novels.

March 2018 Wrap Up

March was not a good reading month since I hardly read any novels. I spent most of my time reading manga and comics. Life was really hectic and my brain did not have the power to process 600 page novels, which is why I chose the easy route of picking comics which can be read in couple of hours without spending much energy.
I read a total of 9 things in March, out of which one was a 600 paged tome and one was a novella. Rest of them were all comics and manga. I borrowed two books from the library and rest were books that I already owned. Some of these I got during my visit to Kinokuniya bookstore.

Gillian Flynn’s Books

I am finally done reading all books written by Gillian Flynn so I thought I will briefly talk about her books. She has written 3 novels and one short story. All these four belong to psychological thriller genre. Before reading her books, I did not even know that this genre existed. I had read sci-fi thrillers and crime thrillers with detectives. But I had not read a dark and twisted novel with immoral characters like the ones in her novels. She is amazing at portraying the dark side of her female characters. She is one of my most favorite authors and one of her books is an all time favorite book of mine.

Jan 2018 Reading Wrap Up

Jan was a great reading month for me as I read 9 books. I have never read that many books in a month, if I remember correctly. This was possible mostly because I read small books (200-400 pages long) and because I loved every single book I read this month. With books which are not that interesting, I find reasons to not read since I do not feel inclined to read them that quickly. But when the month is filled with 4 or 5 star reads, I tend to read more.

6 of these reads were from my physical TBR (yayy!) and 2 were ebooks and 1 physical book was borrowed from the library. I had borrowed 4 books from library this month. I only ended up reading one of the 4 and returned the rest of them unread since I just am not in the mood for non-fiction or graphical novels right now.
