Trail of Lightning: Book Review

I read Trail of Lightning this month as part of the readalong hosted by Wyrd and Wonder hosts. I could not read along with others and could not discuss the book on the dates chosen by the hosts. I knew this month was going to be hectic at work, so I sped through the book in the beginning of this month when I had some free time. I have been too busy with a new project at work and have been unable to blog. I will not be able to blog much for the next couple of months I guess. This is the only book I have read so far from my fantasy TBR. But I am glad I was able to finish at least one book.

Locke and Key Graphic Novel Series

I read the first book in this graphic novel series last year and loved it. I finally got hold of all the books and finished them this month by binge reading them. They are now one of my most favorite graphic novel series of all time. There are totally 6 books, but I got the master edition where each volume is a bind up of 2 books. This is written by Joe Hill, son of Stephen King so I went in with high expectations.

Hugo Award 2018 Nominees Read

I am attending WorldCon and Hugo awards ceremony this year. Yay! This will be the first time and (might be) the last time that I will get a chance to visit. It is happening in San Jose this time and I am way too excited about the prospects of meeting some of my favorite science fiction and fantasy authors at the WorldCon convention. I recently met Brian McClellan(of Powder Mage series) at the Comic Con convention and got his autograph on one of his books. I am hoping that I will be able to meet many more authors like him in WorldCon this year.

Ten books to read if you are a parent

Today’s topic at Broke and Bookish is : Top Ten Books For Every X To Read

I read a ton of parenting and pregnancy books when I was pregnant. I was going to be a parent for the first time and I had no idea how to raise a kid. I did not even have siblings and had never taken care of a child before. That made me very anxious and scared of this new phase in my life. So when I was pregnant, I read all these books. Yes, I read them when I was pregnant and not after having a baby. I think it was the anticipation and the restlessness that made me read these books. Once my baby was with me, I never felt like reading another book on parenting. If you are looking for some good parenting books, here are the ten books that I read. I did Google searches, read plenty of blogs and then read these books as they had lot of good reviews.

I have chosen 10 books that I want to read this year. From my tbr pile, I chose only those books that I am most interested in and really excited to read. This year I am planning to unhaul 50% or more of my tbr pile as I am no longer interested in many books that I own.

So these are the 10 books that I plan to finish this year. Please let me know if you have read/loved any of these books.

TTT: Top ten latest best reads

Today’s topic at Broke and Bookish is to list top ten latest 5 star reads. I don’t usually give 5 stars to a book unless it is exceptionally good. A book which gets 5 stars from me usually ends up in my favorite books shelf. Most of the 5 star books on my shelf are my all-time favorites. So I don’t really have many 5 star reads in the recent years. My ratings are usually 3-4 depending on whether or not I liked the book. So I decided to list some of my recent best reads as part of this tag. Some of these books were rated 5 and some 4 by me on Goodreads. But I strongly recommend that you read these books, as I definitely enjoyed reading all these ten books.

toptentuesday2 First five of these books were read by me in this year 2016 (I read 13 books this year but most of them were disappointing), the other five were read in 2014. I am not listing the books that I liked in 2015, since I have already done a post on my favorite reads of 2015 here and I don’t want to repeat the same books here.
So these are my top ten best reads –
