If you have not already read my earlier post on Minimalism, please read it here. In my previous post on this topic, I talk about the books that got me into minimalism and what I learnt from each of those books.
From last few years, I have been trying to downsize my belongings and trying actively to buy less. I have not been completely successful but I am heading in the right direction. I cleaned all the rooms and got rid of all the junk at home last year. Having gotten rid of everything that was not bringing me joy, I am now mostly left with stuff that bring me joy.
2019 has been a hectic year and I have not been able to read the books that I had planned to read. Instead, I am reading books that were not even part of my TBR. I saw the Marie Kondo show and Salt Fat Acid Heat show and suddenly got inspired to do some organization of home and kitchen. I read a total of 9 books in Jan, but most of them were non-fiction and small sized books.
Finally I am here with my Top 10 list of favorite books from 2018. I read many amazing books last year and it was difficult to come down with just 10 books for this list. But here is a list of 10 books that entered my favorites list, in no particular order –
Happy New Year guys! 2018 is finally over and 2019 is here. 2018 has been a great year for me personally as things improved on the career front and I got to make some international trips – UK and Mexico. Life was hectic but eventful. I even got to attend Worldcon this year. Here’s hoping that 2019 will be equally good.
December was a pretty busy month for me as I took a cruise to Mexico. More details will be coming soon in a separate post. I read 6 books in total in December.
Here are the books that I finished in December –
I read Jungle of Stone book by William Carlsen just in time for my Mexico trip and I liked it. The book is about John Stevens and Frederick Catherwood as they both make their journey to Mexico and Central America in search of stones in Jungle and end up discovering Maya Civilization. Even the locals had no idea about this civilization and it is because of the expedition of these two men that the Europeans realized that western hemisphere had an advanced civilization which could match some of the ancient civilizations in the East.
Updated: Michelle received her copy of Doomsday Book, just before Christmas. Yay!
I am excited to announce the winner of the International Giveaway that I posted in November. Thank you all for participating in the giveaway and for leaving a comment with your choice. I gave numbers to all the comments and then gave the range of numbers to a random number generator to pick the winner. Comment #1 did not wish to participate so my min was at 2.
