April Reading Wrap Up

April wasn’t such a good reading month for me. I went on vacation, work got really busy to the point of giving me headaches (literally) and I spent a lot of time outside basking in the spring sun. After the terrible winter, I was happy to be able to go to parks and do some outdoor activities. I enrolled my kid in a soccer class and evenings are spent either there or in the park. Because of this, my reading time got cut short. I am also trying to sleep early these days so that I can wake up early in the morning.

I went on a trip to Portland and got to visit Powell’s Bookstore, which is considered world’s biggest bookstore. I will have a detailed post up on that bookstore along with some pics. I bought three books there. See how good I am getting these days at resisting myself? Few years back, I would have bought 13 books from a bookstore that huge and amazing. Now I have developed a lot of self control. I read two out of these three books in April.

Thoughts on Crimes of Grindelwald

I watched the new Fantastic Beasts movie – The Crimes of Grindelwald on the day it was released, as you can expect from me. I then read the screenplay book the very next day. This post will contain SPOILERS so if you haven’t yet seen or read this part of Fantastic Beasts series, then skip this post.

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch is a fast paced science fiction thriller about multiverses published this year (2016). I saw mixed reviews of this book so I initially thought I will not get a hard copy and instead read an ebook. I read some 25% of the book and lost interest. I then realized few days back that maybe it was because of the format of the book that I did not enjoy it much, as these days I am not able to read on Kindle for some reason (just don’t feel like reading on it). This week I got a hard copy of this book and finished reading it this weekend. And you know what, I absolutely loved it.

Fantastic beasts and where to find them

I watched the movie and then read the screenplay today. Every scene and dialogue in the book matches with what I saw on the screen. It was like watching the movie for the second time – but with my added imagination, making it even more awesome. The descriptions of the beasts and reading more about the beasts made reading the book worthwhile.
