Sci-Fi Month: November 2016 #RRSciFiMonth

I came across this and decided to jump in. This is like a month long event hosted by RINN READS and OVER THE EFFING RAINBOW where bloggers post anything and everything about science fiction. I am probably one of the most irregular bloggers but I am trying to see if I can have a schedule for this month. I have been trying to read more sci-fi these days and this month, I will have an excuse to pick up more sci-fi books.

So, about me – I am a huge sci-fi fan and have always been attracted to this genre, whether it is books or movies or TV shows. I like anything and everything sci-fi. I will make separate posts about my favorite sci-fi books and movies.

I am planning to read few sci-fi books this month. The book “Fevre Dream” by George R.R. Martin which was supposed to be my Halloween read is still not done. I am 25% or so done with that book. But it is so interesting that I do not feel like putting it down. I really want to know what is going to happen in that story. So I will only be able to read sci-fi books once I am done with that.
Also, since I have a small baby, I do not get any time to catch up on movies or TV shows. But I can read books after the baby is asleep in the night (which is not a lot of time). I need to get up early in the morning so cannot stay awake late in the night. But still I think I can manage to read atleast one sci-fi book.

Books that I might read and review:

1. The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells 
   I cannot believe that I have not read this book yet, even though I am a huge fan of H.G. Wells. I read the first chapter recently and put it down as I picked up another book. I want to finish this book soon. I have seen the adaptation of this book which had Tom Cruise in it and loved it. This is THE ultimate alien book so really excited for it.
2. The left of darkness by Ursula K. LeGuin 
   This is one author that I want to read before this year ends. I have again started reading this book and have read just the first chapter. I heard this book is about a planet where there is no concept of gender and people can change gender or something.
3. The Forever War by Joe Haldeman 
   Do you see a pattern here? Yes, I read first chapters of books and then put them down and pick up another book. This is happening from last few months. I am not able to finish a book. This is yet another book where I read the note from the author and read the first chapter and then kept it down. I am really interested in this book. It talks about a soldier who is fighting an intergalactic war and everytime he visits Earth, it is like few months for him but centuries would have passed on Earth.

Let me see how many books I will be able to read. I am also reading few sci-fi short stories these days so I might make a post on all the short stories that I have read recently.
