Top ten book to movie adaptations

toptentuesday2

Today’s topic is Top Ten Book To Movie Adaptations I’m Looking Forward To or Ten Book To Movie Adaptations I Still Need To Watch. I love books and movies, so I like to watch movie adaptations of the books that I read. I am listing 10 books that haven’t been made into movies yet. I have read these books and would love to watch a movie adaptation of these books. But we are still not sure if these books will be made into movies and if so, when they would be made.booktomovie1_sm

1. The Complete Maus (Maus #1-2) by Art Spiegelman – This book is so awesome. I am actually surprised that no one thought of making a movie out of this book. Hope some director picks this book up soon.

2. The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness – under development according to IMDB. But it has been showing that for so many years now that it seems like the project has been shelved probably. This is a great series which should be made into movies.

3. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon – This is one of my most favorite books ever and nobody ever made a movie based on this book.

4. Prey by Michael Crichton – Out of the many novels that Crichton wrote, I loved this one a lot. It is a nail-biting thriller which would be great as a movie.

5. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho – Considering the popularity of this book, I am surprised nobody thought of making a movie out of this book. But there is a higher chance that the movie will be boring, if not directed properly.
booktomovie2_sm6. The Amulet of Samarkand(Bartimaeus, #1) by Jonathan Stroud – Another great series which has not been made into a movie. Love this book and I am yet to read the rest of the books in the series.

7. Sophie Kinsella’s books (other than the Shopaholic one) – Her books are light and funny. They would be great as movies as there is lot of drama involved.

8. Foundation series by Isaac Asimov – TV series under development according to IMDB from ages, which suggests it is not coming in the near future. So all hopes of watching my favorite book series on TV is gone.

9. American Gods by Neil Gaiman  – TV Series in 2017(maybe) and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman – under development. I will definitely catch both of them as I loved the books.

10. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline – 2017 (maybe) – I have been waiting for this movie to get released from god-knows-how-long. But now that the director has been announced and it is none other than Steven Spielberg, I am more than excited about this movie.

I am also adding few movies adapted from books which will soon get released. I have not read one book from this list and have read the rest of them.

* The Maze Runner : The death cure by James Dashner in 2017 – I am yet to read this book but since I liked the other two, I will definitely read the book and watch the movie.

* Looking for Alaska by John Green – coming in 2016 – I love all the books written by John Green. I loved the movie adaptations of Paper Towns and The Fault in our stars, so definitely I am going to watch this movie. This is my favorite book by John Green, along with TFIOS.

* The girl on the train by Paula Hawkins – in 2016 – I loved this book, much more than Gone Girl. I am sure I will like the movie too, considering they stick to the book for most part of the movie.

* Inferno by Dan Brown – in 2016 – This was a great read and considering Tom Hanks is back in this movie, I am definitely going to watch it.

Fantastic beasts and where to find them by J.K.Rowling in 2016 – The movies probably have nothing to do with the book. But that doesn’t discourage me from reading the book again. I am eagerly waiting for this movie.

* The Choice by Nicholas Sparks in 2016 – I loved this book and hopefully, will like the movie too. The recent movies adaptations of his books haven’t been that good, especially “The best of me”, which was bad.

  1. Wow I first I didn’t read your little intro and was like.. wait a minute… when did they make the alchemist movie and why didn’t I find out about it? lol! I really hope they do make it, but it also terrifies me that they don’t do it justice…
I’m also really excited for the possibility of Ready, Player One being turned into a movie (finally! maybe?), when I read the book it seemed to me like it was perfect for the big screen 😀

  2. Previously, Jurassic Park and Congo were my favorite adaptations. In the recent days, I liked Gone Girl. Let’s hope more books are made into movies (including your list above) so that more people and lazy people can see them 😉

  3. I am not a fan of movies made from my favorite books (haven’t watched any of the Harry Potter movies!)- which is why the idea of Maus, Bartimaeus, Foundation Series and Chaos Walking being made into movies is scary! 😀

  4. I’ve only read exactly half of these books! I’m also skeptical about them being made into movies; some of the most wonderful storylines have been ruined in movie adaptations!
