I have check-marked almost all the places on my must-see places list in US. I have visited some of them 3-4 times. So these days I have been eyeing other countries or places which are fascinating enough to visit. Most of these places are new additions to my wishlist. To add to that, I have an inspiring travel buff for a boss who shows me travel pics often. I follow some travel blogs and after reading great posts on these places, I have decided to pay them a visit, whenever I can.

First two in the list are the places that I have been wanting to visit for a very long time. The others got added this year after seeing some amazing pics of these places. There are many more places on my wishlist but these are the ones which seem plausible. 😛

  1. Wizarding world of Harry Potter in Orlando

I have been to Orlando and I have been to all the great parks in Orlando already. But then how did I miss Harry Potter land, being one of the greatest fans? The reason was that it was still not built when I visited Orlando. So that makes me want to visit Orlando again, just for Harry Potter world. 2. Bryce Canyon and Monument Valley in Utah

If you have seen the “wild west” in western movies, then you will realize how important it is to visit Utah. Having stayed very close to Utah for couple of years, this yearning has turned into a dream. I hope a day comes when I get to visit the national parks in Utah. *Fingers crossed*.

  3. Mexico – Chichen Itza

I have been to Mexico, but not to the part which has Mayan ruins. After watching the movie “Apocalypto” and understanding what those temples were built for, I am keen on visiting these ruins. Also not to forget that Chichen Itza is now one of the wonders of the world.

  4. Costa Rica – rainforest and volcanoes

Rain forests and volcanoes – this is what Hawaii is famous for. Even though I have seen these in Hawaii, I would love to visit Costa Rica some day, simply because of the diverse wildlife and vegetation that one can see there. I also want to hike to the sky blue river/waterfalls – Rio Celeste waterfalls in Tenorio Volcano National Park.

  5. Cruise – Caribbean Islands

I have never been on a cruise. But I have always wanted to go on one, even since I saw “Titanic” :). I have heard about the elaborate buffets, desserts that you can experience only if you have been on a cruise. So I hope to some day take a cruise for a week or so.

  6. Peru – Machu Picchu

It is another wonder of the world. After reading “Motorcycle diaries” and watching many documentaries on Inca empire, I really want to visit this place someday. I keep seeing emails in the travel mailing list at work, where someone is always planning a hike to see this wonder. I am not sure I can really hike to this place, but would still want to at least visit it on a train or bus someday.

P.S: Sorry for being absent for such a long time. I will get back to posting and commenting soon. Life has become really busy – with family visiting us, traveling, hectic work schedules, health issues and what not!

  1. All your selections are wonderful. I am surprised you have not yet been on a cruise. For a starter, you can take a 4 night or 7 night cruise to Mexico from Los Angeles. You will love the experience. We have been 4 times to Mexico. All are on Royal Caribbean. Very affordable. So many activities in the ship and offshore. The food (tons and tons of them) are available 24 hours. For example, they have more than 50 desserts available all the time. The dinner menu has 3 Indian vegetarian selections (out of 9). They have an Indian vegetarian cuisine and also a Jain cuisine.

    1. oh wow SG. I had no idea they served Indian vegetarian cuisine on cruises. Thanks SG. I was mainly worried about veg food all these days and hence the delay in taking a cruise. We should try the Mexico cruise then.

  2. My travels around my place keeps getting into some hurdle or the other. I don’t want to travel other countries, but by bucket list of traveling to interesting places around here is continuously bombarded with challenges. Now it’s summer. Before it was some pending work. I don’t know what will happen in future! Pure mismanagement.

Wonder why that Mexico monument has been selected as a world wonder. This seems to be smaller than basic pyramids! All the best with your travels, though. I am sure you will go to all places, and maybe more 🙂

    1. Yeah I have noticed that these days you have kind of stopped traveling. Life gets very hectic sometimes and we cannot manage travel. This year even we are not traveling that much (compared to last year). Let’s see if I can visit these places at least next year or so.
