My 2013’s challenge was here: Reading Challenge 2013. I did not complete most of the challenges that I signed up for and even for those that I completed, I did not find enough time to write proper reviews. 2013 has been pretty hectic as it was our “travel” year. We dedicated all the time and money to mostly travelling. I hope to read and review more books in 2014. The idea is that signing up for challenges might motivate me to read more books. Some of the books listed here were taken from previous year’s challenge, as I could not finish them last year.
I hope to read atleast 30 books next year, as part of the Goodreads challenge.
On a different note, I completed 8 years of blogging this month 🙂
Updated: I don’t think I can finish this challenge in 2014. Extending the same challenge to 2015 as well.
2014 TBR Pile Challenge
The Goal: To finally read 12 books from your “to be read” pile (within 12 months).
These books are lying on my tbr from at least a year and I have not found the time to pick them up. I hope to read these books this year.
- Contact
- Great Expectations
- No Country For Old Men
- Around the World in Eighty Days
- Prelude to Foundation
- Interpreter of Maladies (or The Namesake)
- The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
I picked these books last year and then gave up after reading few pages, since they did not interest me (either because of my mood or because of the way they were written). Hope to read them soon.
- Chanakya’s Chant
The Silmarillion- Timeline
- Kafka on the Shore
- Neuromancer (Sprawl, #1)
- The Wedding
2014 Chunkster challenge
A chunkster is an adult or YA book, non-fiction or fiction, that’s 450 pages or more.
I finished first 3 and almost finished the 4th book from “The song of ice and fire” series in 2013. That was quite an achievement since each book in the series is a chunkster. Hope to read more chunksters next year.
- Great Expectations
A Dance with Dragons- Pillars of the Earth

Good & All the best. I think, I will beat you this year. I am on a reading books/watching movies spree and it will continue all over this year. I might (most probably) read more than 30 books, but the issue is many books that I want to read are classics/non-fiction that are very long and I am a slow reader!
I am starting my fiction reading journey with Hunger Games (Book 1) that I bought recently 🙂

Awesome but how come I don’t see many book reviews from your side? Do review some books, I might pick a few from your list if they sound interesting.
Hunger games is good and fast paced. It was difficult to put the book down for even a minute.

Great job reading Ash :). That was pretty awesome if you ask me. Hope you get to read more in 2014.
I liked the idea of making a year, travel year. Kinda lets you focus on what you really want to do. There are just so many things, right.
btw, you did inspire me to read again and so I have picked up a book too. 🙂

Congrats on 8 years of blogging. I enjoy challenges, though I don’t always meet them. I’m looking forward to the Chunkster challenge! I think I’ll start with London by Edward Rutherfurd.
