Another LOTR post

Okay. I already had two: one of Return of the king and one on Sam Gamgee. But still after watching the movies again, I am compelled to put together yet another post on the quotes from “The two towers” that I missed out on earlier.

lotr1

Here they are (for all the Lord of the Rings fans out there):

  • Sam: We have to get out of here. You go. Go, now. You can do it. Use the ring, Mr. Frodo. Just this once. Put it on. Disappear.
Frodo: I can’t. You were right, Sam. You tried to tell me, but… I’m sorry. The ring’s taking me, Sam. If I put it on… he’ll find me. He’ll see.
    Sam: Mr. Frodo…
Faramir: So this is the answer to all the riddles. Here in the wild I have you… two halfings… and a host of men at my call.
The Ring of power within my grasp. A chance for Faramir, captain of Gondor… to show his quality.
Sam: Stop it! Leave him alone. Don’t you understand? He’s got to destroy it! That’s where we’re going, into Mordor. To the mountain of fire! Please. It’s such a burden. Will you not help him?
Faramir: The Ring will go to Gondor.
  • King Theoden: They will break upon this fortress like water on rock. Saruman’s hordes will pillage and burn. We’ve seen it before. Crops can be resown, homes rebuilt. Within these walls we will outlast them.
Aragorn: They do not come to destroy Rohan’s crops or villages. They come to destroy its people, down to the last child.
King Theoden: What would you have me do? Look at my men. Their courage hangs by a thread. If this is to be our end, then I would have them make such an end, as to be worthy of remembrance.
Aragorn: Send out riders, my Lord. You must call for aid.
King Theoden: And who will come? Elves? Dwarves? We are not so lucky in our friends as you. The old alliances are dead.
    Aragorn: Gondor will answer.
    King Theoden: Gondor?!
Where was Gondor when the westfold fell?! Where was Gondor when our enemies close in around us?! Where was Gon- ?! No, my Lord Aragorn… we are alone.
  • Gamling: My lord?
King Theoden: Who am I, Gamling?
Gamling: You are our king, Sire.
King Theoden: And do you trust your king?
Gamling: Your men, my lord will follow you to whatever end.
King Theoden: Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountains. Like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the west… behind the hills into shadow. How did it come to this?
  • Haldir: Show them no mercy, for you will be shown none.
  • Pippin: Maybe Treebeard’s right. We don’t belong here, Merry. It’s too big for us. What can we do in the end? We’ve got the shire. Maybe we should go home.
Merry: The fires of Isengard will spread and the woods of Tuckborough and Buckland will burn. And… and all that was once green and good in this world will be gone. There won’t be a shire, Pippin.

And the last one is from The Fellowship of the ring:

  • Frodo : It’s a pity Bilbo didnt kill him when he had the chance
Gandalf : Pity? It is pity that stayed Bilbo’s hand. Many that live deserve death, some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death and judgement. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many.
Frodo : I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf : So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces of work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought.

Those were brilliant lines… somehow I do not take a fancy to movies that don’t end in one part 🙂

  4. You forgot the lord of adsurdity Legolas..His primary job is not to give a ranged support, but to tell something the audience already known .. Just cut his single lines from d movie..

    Legolas: Orcs!
    Legolas: Goblins!
Legolas: Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond has said? The ring must be destroyed!
    Legolas: A scout!
    Legolas: Crebain from Dunland… Hide!
Legolas: Something draws near… I can feel it.
    Legolas: The Horn of Gondor.
Legolas: That is one of the mearas, or else my eyes have been cheated by some spell.
Legolas: There is a fell voice in the air.
Legolas: The red sun rises. Blood has been spilled this night.
Legolas: They’re taking the Hobbits to Isengard!

Eomer: We cannot achieve victory through strength of arms.
Aragorn: Not for ourselves. But we can give Frodo a chance if we keep Sauron’s Eye fixed upon us… keep him blind to all else that moves.
    Legolas: A DIVERSION!!

    Others too..

Pippin: Merry, the tree is talking.

Gandalf: A Balrog. A demon of the ancient world. This foe is far beyond any of you. RUN!

These r some moments where d film ruined the book… I read some of these somewhere & I found some..

    1. Hmm true and sad 😦 Legolas doesnt have much role in the movie.. but I like Orlando Bloom 😀 so his mere presence was enough for me to go gaga..
yeah book was much better but then I like the movies too mainly for the graphics and some characters were portrayed well in the movie.. but the book is sooo huge that I am surprised the director somehow squeezed 1000 pages into 2 and a 1/2 hrs or so 🙂

      1. Legolas doesn’t have much role?? He wins d death count competition always, he shoots laser guided fire & forget arrows that hits anything that moves, he works as a human light house to the fellowship, and on top he is the chick among the fellowship, like a token girl in all action hero groups to merely justify the gender balance, without any apparent reason (I can write a post on this!!)

Orlando bloom do have a lot of female fans.. So do Rob pattinson, ranbir, shahid, who falls under a gender confusion…

      2. Not gender confusion plz!! he is very good looking 🙂 and that’s why girls like him.. so is Rob, his face is too perfect 🙂 Shahid’s smile is amazing and Ranbir is cute too.. Even Johny Depp for that matter!
