Let’s look at some moons this time. I got a chance to click some pics of our moon sometime back when it was almost full moon and again recently just few days back. Like somebody suggested last time, I should probably name this series as sci-pho, since most of the time I end up with some pics I clicked.
Jupiter’s moons are more interesting compared to our dead moon, with no geological activity on it. Io has active volcanoes that keep ejecting Sulphur Dioxide. Europa has icy surface, below which water might exist. Neptune’s moon Triton is another interesting moon, which has geysers that eject Nitrogen. Moons of the outer planets are much more interesting than the planets themselves. Recently Gliese 581g planet was in news since scientists predicted that it might be habitable. But then another scientist gave a statement saying it may not be completely true. Let’s see what else we are going to discover in future 🙂
Interesting!!!

Hey give some credit to our moon 2 ! In proportion to its planet, its the largest satellite of them all & it adds to the stability of our planet too. The other moons do appear more interesting but do they have a more important purpose ? 😀
Good to see this post. Reminds me of the times when I would keep starring at the stars & try to learn everything abt them 🙂

oh yes! our moon is special in its own way 🙂 without it, we would never have beautiful beaches with waves in them 🙂 Thanks Rohit.. I love looking at the stars even today.. I find the night sky very fascinating 🙂

Sci-pho it should be, looking at the wonderful pictures you are snapping. 🙂
I remember the times when the night sky used to be so clear that one could see the tiniest of stars. I used to identify various constellations at nights, lying on the bed on the terrace with my Granpa. Too bad we didn’t have today’s technology to capture those views back then.
We have the technology now, but the pollution filled atmosphere doesn’t let us see anything beyond the dust these days. 😦
But discoveries of the cosmos are endless. They just keep coming. 🙂

oh yes, planning to change the series name to sci-pho, it sounds more appropriate right? 🙂 Yeah these days the sky is clouded most of the times but I do star gazing when the clouds are not there.. I love gazing at the night sky.. one of my favourite pastimes 🙂 My next aim is to take pics of some planets, which I am unable to , since they move very fast..

yep…life elsewhere is an interesting thought. its been discussed to death and still ppl cant get enuff. as u said…lets see what other possibilities can be discovered! 🙂

Thanks Ash 🙂 yep I find the cosmos very interesting.. something that I just love to observe..

Some of the moons of the other planets are really big, some as big as earth! There is one quote which I love about extra terrestrial beings – “Either we are totally alone in this vast universe, or we are not – Both the possibilities are equally haunting” 🙂

That was a beautiful quote.. both of the possibilities will drive us mad.. one towards spirituality and the other away from it 🙂

Come on… our moon is not all that bad. He is the 5th largest and largest natural satellite :P. Yeah, Jupiter’s moons are interesting. But something that always interested me are Saturn rings. Some day I hope to see them :). Good Post :). And I m hoping that we find a habitable planet which is something like Pandora. Wouldnt that be great?

I love Saturn’s rings too 🙂 It makes it look so beautiful in sky.. I really want to see them someday.. A planet like Pandora would be too good 🙂

We can shift to any of those satellites if scientists find a sign of life there. Earth’s getting boring and too populated and polluted.

thanks Pinoo 🙂 yeah these moons and planets have always excited humans from time unknown.. our ancestors always wondered about them too and now we are in the process of doing that 🙂 Even I love Saturn’s rings.. wish could get a chance to fly past it 😀

Oh thanks Arvind for trying to open my blog page again.. what browser do you use at office? Background image covered the foreground image? That’s really bad.. probably this theme doesnt work well with some browser version maybe.. Oh I dint upload the actual sized pic on this page but let me upload it on Picasa or Flickr and give you the link..
